Unbridled mullahocracy

"The ayatollahs and mullahs clearly don't like U.S. carrots, cooked or uncooked. In fact, Iran's supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, from his religious retreat in the holy city of Qum, said "Death to America" should now be read or spoken before any chapter of the Koran."

I dare someone to say that "all religions lead to god!"

Bill Clinton Supports Rescuing Schiavo

While New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has virtually gone into hiding - as have many other Democrats - regarding whether or not Terri Schiavo should be starved to death, ex-President Bill Clinton was reportedly "egging on" one of Hillary's colleagues to support federal intervention to rescue Schiavo.

As of this writing, the killing of Terri Schiavo has not been consummated, but it could be at any moment. There is no "letting her die" going on here, any more than we would be "letting" an infant die if we left him in his playpen and deprived him of food and water for 12 days.

The story used to be that the Left, broadly defined, was the party of love, compassion, softness — the large-hearted party. We used to say, "Bleeding hearts!" And the Right was cold, materialistic, callous — Hobbesian. What happened?

Eleanor Smith (who was quoted by Reuters, which was quoted by the Wall Street Journal) is a self-described liberal, lesbian, and agnostic — and yet she says, "At this point I would rather have a right-wing Christian decide my fate than an ACLU member."

"I think much of the Left's support of the so-called husband stems from the fact that they get a chance to stick it to George W. Bush and his religious supporters. They couldn't beat him at the ballot box, so Terri Schiavo's death becomes a sort of victory for them. Pretty hard to believe, but . . ."
